Services for people experiencing homelessness during the holidays

In the Illawarra Shoalhaven, a variety of support services for people experiencing homelessness will remain open during the holidays, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day. See the list below:

- For young people and people at risk of homelessness, CareSouth – Shoalhaven Youth Support Service in Berkeley and Warilla will be open during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm. Call 1300 554 260 for assistance.

- For women and children at risk of homelessness due to domestic violence and abuse, Supported Accommodation and Support Services Shoalhaven Illawarra (SAHSSI) in Wollongong will be on call for emergencies. Call (02) 4421 8283 for assistance.

- If you are homeless and in need of assistance, Link2home will have a counsellor available for emergencies on 1800 152 152.

- If you are a young person in need of legal advice, Children’s Legal Service (CLS) Youth Hotline will remain open 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays and all public holidays, in addition to normal business hours. Call 1800 10 18 10 for assistance.

- For people in need of emergency overnight shelter, Safe Shelter Shoalhaven in Nowra will remain open. Please call (02) 4426 6117 prior to arrival by 3:30pm. This service provides shelter on a first-in basis.

- For men aged 21 years and over who are at risk of homelessness, contact John Purcell House in Nowra on (02) 4428 6207.
